Precision work at brewer Bolten
Context
At German brewer Bolten, SCE lowered a brand-new square silo block with eight cells through the roof into the main building. This precision operation meant that the brewery only had to be shut down for a very short time.

Fast installation
Where four round silos used to stand, eight square silos have now been precisely fitted into the building. In this way, as much space as possible has been converted into storage capacity for malt. The entire structure was pre-assembled in the brewery car park. The roof was then opened, the old silos removed and the new SCE silos lowered in, a few centimetres from the interior walls. After that, the cells were covered with a robust and safe floor on top and everything was connected up to the new installation. The use of this approach saved three weeks: the Bolten brewery was shut down for just three weeks for this major operation. This was due in part to a well thought-out schedule, drawn up in collaboration with equipment manufacturer Bühler, which was responsible for installing the brand-new machinery section.
A well thought-out schedule
‘We were able to optimise the assembly by working out together with the partner what could be done at the same time,’ says project manager Gilles Pannecoucke. ‘We combined our schedules. The customer had asked beforehand not to be given the coordination work. We completely took it over and worked out a perfect planning in advance. The customer was very satisfied afterwards. I even got two crates of beer (laughs).’
