Context

In the remote Romanian village of Palota, near the Hungarian border, Cereal Feed, part of the Nutrientul family business group, operates a facility where maize is processed into maize flour. Within just six months, and under challenging winter conditions, SCE constructed a 3,600 m³ silo block along with truck loading infrastructure to support the growing needs of the plant.

A strategic market and a solid partnership

The collaboration between Cereal Feed and SCE began through the initiative of a local architect. The shared interest in long-term cooperation was evident from the outset. Eastern Europe is a fast-growing market for food milling, making this project a strategic opportunity for both parties to expand their presence in the region.

A tailored silo solution

The installation included 24 square silos: 8 for conditioning, 12 for storing maize flour, and 4 for by-products. In addition, 4 round bulk silos were installed in a row to allow for fast and efficient truck loading. While SCE specializes in square silos, the company also integrated round silos as part of this comprehensive, all-in solution. The modular nature of both silo types ensured flexibility and efficient project execution.

Built for hygiene and stability

Given the nature of food processing, hygiene was a top priority. At the same time, the equipment used to extract maize flour generates significant vibration, which required a stable and cleanable building structure. SCE addressed both needs with a specially designed concrete floor integrated into the steel structure. This solution provided enhanced stability while also making the facility easier to clean, meeting both structural and hygienic standards.
