New 300 TPD flour mill ensures food safety
Context
Bamako is the capital of Mali and consequently one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. SCE installed a brand-new full flour mill there in less than one year for M’bouna, Moulin des Boulangers, which processes 300 tonnes of wheat a day into flour, contributing to food security in the country.

Prefab elements and strong preparation
M’bouna was looking for a single supplier for the entire flour mill building, including 8 square silos for wheat and 4 square silos for flour, each totalling approximately 250 cubic metres. To cope with the logistics situation, SCE designed the square silo building as a modular structure with prefab elements for the silos, steel structure, concrete floors, and cladding. “All these materials are then shipped to Mali in standard 40-foot containers. This reduces transport costs and increases the efficiency of on-site installation,” Wim explains. “The mill building is then assembled with a small local team and an SCE supervisor. That efficient assembly leads to faster ROI. The client is very satisfied with the final result. The square silos – with our patented butterfly funnels – operate on the first-in, first-out principle. Furthermore, we thoroughly insulated the building to protect the flour from the high temperatures in the country, thus increasing productivity. The building has been designed from A to Z with hygiene and efficiency in mind.”
A true partner
SCE took a total of twelve months to install the entire building and make it ready for use. They also approached Rabobank to work out an interesting financing solution for their customer through Belgian credit insurance company Credendo. In this way, SCE acts as a strong partner throughout the process.
